2. ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2001

Call for papers for the:

Pan-European conference on "Finance, Trade and Factor Mobility Issues in the Global Economy" jointly organised by the IEFS-UK and Macedonia University in Thessaloniki, Greece, May 17-20, 2001.

Papers related to European integration are actively solicited. However, more broadly based papers focusing on global markets are also relevant. Those with a focus on aspects of the new Digital/Dotcom economy and its implications are especially welcome.

It is envisaged that a selection of papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of the Review of International Economics.

A provisional Programme of the Conference (together with invited Keynote Speakers) will be posted on the Web by early March 2001. The Conference fee (to include some lunches and dinners) will be Euro160. Accommodation arrangements will also be posted on the website.

The deadline for submission of papers (3 copies) is February 28, 2001 to:

Dr. George Agiomirgianakis (Theoretical papers) Dr. Dimitrios Asteriou (Empirical papers)

Department of Economics (the same address in City University)

City University, Northampton Square

London EC1V OHB

Session organisation: As noted in past newsletters, it will be possible for individuals to arrange their own sessions. If you wish to do so, please contact Dr. Tapan Biswas no later than 28 February 2001 with the following information:

1) The topic of your session.

2) The names, affiliations and addresses of the 3-4 speakers.

3) Each speaker’s topic.

4) The sessions’ chair.

The session organiser is responsible for screening and selecting the papers to be presented in the session, as well as contacting the speakers and generally organising the session. The requested information to Dr. Biswas by 28 February 2001 will assist in efficiently planning of the conference as well as in quality control. Session organisers should send to Dr. Biswas the full texts of papers by 31 April 2001.
